Male to male romance

(full piece available on request)

I recently met a woman at a meet-up group who makes her living out of writing male-to-male erotic romance. What is even stranger about this is the fact that some 70% of readers are women.

This literary genre is growing hugely in popularity. The main publisher in the U.S., Dreamspinner, started in 2007 and each year sales have tripled and look set to continue in this vein. The same is the case with Total e.Bound, the main European publisher of this genre, based in this country.
The first conference in the Southern hemisphere on the subject has recently taken place in Sydney which also reflects the growing popularity there.
I have interviewed a couple of successful novelists and both publishers in the U.S.and Europe.
My piece explores how women feel able to write in this genre and why it would particularly attract female readers.
